Beloved Friends,
Every other week, you'll find here:
- a mystical story, poem or saying (possibly one of yours!) from a different religious or spiritual tradition
- a link to an event, website, group or product that will aid your ascent into the world of the mystics
- updates on my upcoming speaking engagements, classes, book signings, and/or new articles.
I also invite you to respond with your own stories. (See instructions at the end of this letter.)
Although this newsletter will always be brief, my hope is that you will not simply read the few words on these pages, but that you will allow them to penetrate your heart. Keep them with you throughout the week, make them your mantra, and permit them to change your life in some way. Enter, with your heart's meditation, into the Realm of the Divine Mysteries.
LISTEN THIS WEEK to the words of Hafiz:
"The Day Sky"
Let us be like
Two falling stars in the day sky.
Let no one know of our sublime beauty
As we hold hands with God
And burn
Into a sacred existence that defies -
That surpasses
Every description of ecstasy
And love.
- Version by Daniel Ladinsky
ONE OF MY favorite websites: "A Daily Dose of Wisdom from the Rebbe": www.Chabad.org. A few sentences per day that pass on powerful, mystical insights.
HOWE'S HAPPENINGS:
- My new book, Sitting With Sufis will be in bookstores in early March. Go to my website for a synopsis, or click on the title of the book to read a sample chapter.
- Upcoming event: I'll be delivering a sermon, The Mystical Path of Sufism at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Dallas, Sunday morning, March 20. See my website - www.maryblyehowe.com - for details.
FOR A COMPLETE list of upcoming events, see "events" on my website.
I'D LOVE TO hear your personal stories, poems and thoughts related to the mystical path. Any and all religious and spiritual traditions are welcome. You must, however, subscribe to this newsletter in order to submit a story. Simply respond to the email by hitting "reply" and share with me the highlights of your spiritual journey, what path you're on, what struggles and disappointments you've faced along the way, and how you might be dealing with them.
B'Shalom,
Mary
